چکیده | ||
Leaders of countries try to use letter writing linguistic tool to communicate with the common public, local and foreign media, and official authorities and officials of other countries in order to explain their political position, and communicate with others. The present study tries to analyze the text of Ayatollah Khamenei's letter addressed to the students of the United States universities, who are all in mass protests against foreign policies of the United States supporting of the Zionist regime. The discourse analysis approach of James Paul Gee (2014, 2018) has been used in the analysis of the text of this letter. The findings indicate that the content of this letter emphasizes and focuses on several main points: the opposition between two political parties; Zionist regime vs. Palestine, the appraisal of US students defending people of Gaza, supporting the human rights of Palestinians seeking peace and independence. The reason for highlighting and emphasizing these points is the influence of international conflicts. The findings indicate that the most prominent identities in this text are related to the American government, the political partners of the American government, the United States government, students and American youth. On the other hand, Muslims and the Axis of Resistance oppressed children and women and the residents of the usurped land of Palestine are highlighted identities. The letter tries to convince, encourage, and praise the American students to stay on the same right side of the history. | ||
